The Territory of the Heart: A Somatic Healing Workshop
What’s in your heart these days? Sadness, joy, confusion? As Valentine’s Day approaches, you may experience your emotions more acutely. In this somatics & creativity workshop, you are invited to explore the landscape of your heart using movement, drawing and writing. You get to receive nonjudgemental witnessing and gentle support from other group members. This is a space to celebrate your strengths and tend to your hurts, drawing on the courage and love that the heart embodies. We will end with time for integration and relaxation.
This exploreshop draws inspiration from Body Tales which is the work of Olivia Corson, the Life/Art Process of Anna Halprin and Somatic Experiencing developed by Peter Levine.
Important Info:
- This class is live and will not be recorded.
- Please arrive on-time. Doors will close at 10:05 am. I will open the room at 9:45 am and you are warmly invited to come early and say “hello.”
Pre-requisites:
-You are able to listen to others without interrupting.
-Witnessing each other from a place of compassion is part of this group. You will have the opportunity to hold space for others and be seen. Please have comfort with these practices or come knowing that this is a healthy growth edge for you.
-We will be swimming in emotional territory. It is essential that you feel grounded enough to be able to care for yourself, because this is not a therapy group, and I can’t offer one-on-one attention to resolve overwhelming feelings in this format (I do have other offerings where I do offer this kind of support). If you get overwhelmed, you are encouraged to do what you need to do for self-care, for example, refraining from an activity or taking time to do some deep breathing. Feel free to reach out to me, if you have questions about this.
-You are curious about your own inner world and others inner worlds.
What to bring:
-Paper, pen or pencils
-Something to color with: Crayons, markers or colored pencils
