1)Winter Series in Somatics & Parts Work
In this 6-week class, I offer tools for working with challenging emotions, shifting limiting beliefs and healing the past drawn from Parts Work (IFS) practices. These tools are woven together with somatic skills such as breath, movement and sensing. We take time to sink into the wisdom of the body to find greater ease, reduce stress and heal trauma. We also connect with each other. We play together, share from our hearts and offer each other non judgemental witnessing.
What's part work all about? I think of it as the practice of listening to the voices within. Our “parts” are our sub-personalities: They speak to us through thoughts, emotions and sensations. They have different roles, for example a part that organizes, a part that cares for others, a part that protects us from harm. There are different traditions for working with parts and I am incorporating the work developed by Richard Schwartz, also called Internal Family Systems.
Some of our parts can feel quite challenging; a tender heart, an anxious belly or the thought of not being good enough. It doesn't work well to repress them or try to change them. Instead, we center in "Self," the word Schwarz gives to the calm and clear aspect of our being, and greet our parts from here. We listen to their messages for us and find out what they are needing. When our parts feel supported and respected, they can release their grip and personal transformation can occur with more ease.
In this series, in addition to somatic practices, we will explore writing, drawing and guided meditations. Some practices are done alone, others in small groups or some as a whole group. People often report feeling relieved, spacious and refreshed. One participant described this work as homeopathic; gentle, but powerful.
I offer you handouts and exercises that you can bring into your own healing work or use with clients.
Before signing up, I do want you to know that while this work is often very nourishing, it can at times touch upon vulnerable places or catalyze the movement of difficult emotions or sensations. While this is part of the process of healing, sometimes it can feel uncomfortable. I will be teaching skills for emotional regulation, but it’s also important to come with one or two skills for regulation already in your back pocket, for example, journaling, taking breaks or deep breathing. Please note, that while this work is therapeutic, it is not a substitute for mental health counseling.
Reach out with any questions or concerns. I hope that you will join me for a dive into self-discovery and authentic connection.

2) Embodied Personal Storytelling
I regularly teach embodied personal storytelling at Earthdance. Nothing is scheduled at the moment. Read below to find out more. Join my email list to stay in the loop.
ALL of us, no matter what kind of lives that we have lived, have tales to tell that are compelling to others. Sometimes these are stories of our peak highs and other times, our heartbreaks. They may be stories of the mundane, a funny anecdote or a frustrating family gathering. No matter what the topic, when we share our stories with each other, we find a sense of shared humanity that is deeply satisfying.
In this embodied approach to personal storytelling, we use movement as the ground and inspiration for our stories. We slow down and connect to our bodies which lands us in the present moment where the magic happens. We move and speak, speak and move, not knowing what we are going to say; the words are waiting just beneath the surface. While it may seem like walking and chewing gum, it quickly becomes quite natural.
Using improv games, we get comfortable speaking small vignettes of our life and have fun exploring together. Then we share longer stories with each other. We do this in a supportive container, witnessing each other from a place of care, encouragement and non-judgement. This is about authentic human expression. No performance experience or skill is needed.
Come experience the richness of this work! I hope you will join me for this nourishing soul play. Part of the workshop will be outside, weather dependent.
