Foster unwavering self-compassion. Feed your hunger for truth. Step more fully into who you are.
I invite you to Nurture Embodiment.
Embodiment is the process of inhabiting our whole selves. As we welcome all parts of us--the joy, the grief, the fear, and the courage-- we sense a steady and loving presence within, a presence that is at the core of our being. I developed Nurture Embodiment as a gentle, yet powerful way to come home to yourself.
Nurture Embodiment is a trauma-informed therapeutic process that orients you towards the present moment where transformation happens. This work is designed to help you to heal and to give you tools for coming back to center when you feel off-balance. It is anchored in a deep listening process and incorporates energy wellness tools and somatic (body-based) approaches, including movement, breathing and touch.
Nurture Embodiment is unique from other forms of one-on-one support. It is informed by over 20 years of experience with dance, caring touch, mindfulness and self-healing practices, including Internal Family Systems (also known as Parts Work). Most importantly, it is rooted in my personal journey in healing from long-term health challenges. On this path, I discovered tools that radically improved my quality of my life and helped me to heal from emotional trauma. I am excited to share these tools with with you.
The Benefits of Nurture Embodiment:
* Find your truth and access your intuition.
* Heal past trauma and reclaim your power.
* Access the wisdom of your body.
* Understand the workings of your energetic anatomy.
* Learn tools for self-healing and emotional regulation.
* Identify your needs and ask for support.
* Discover practices for shifting out of states of anxiety, depression and overwhelm.
* Nurture peace of mind and up your joy quotient!
I specialize in helping people who are experiencing emotional overwhelm, and those who identify as highly sensitive.
What are sessions like?
We begin each session with a grounding practice, which is a guided meditation, to help you to start the work from a centered place.
Then we move to the heart of each session which is the process of deep listening and dialogue. I create a welcoming space for you to share your concerns. As you speak, I encourage you to stay connected to your body. For example, if you are feeling anxious I may ask, where do you feel this in your body? I may suggest that you notice your breathing. Orienting to body sensations is naturally calming and helps us to embrace challenging states of being.
A core part of the Nurture Embodiment process is learning the art of Self-healing. I help you to connect with the aspect within yourself that is compassionate, curious and calm. I refer to this aspect of you as "Self," a term I draw from my studies with Internal Family Systems. It is sometimes referred to as "the witness" or "higher self." For example, if you are dealing with jealousy, you may inundated with a dark and grasping feeling. But if you are able to be aware of the jealousy and not simply be swimming in the feeling of being jealous, you can start to get curious. When you feel centered, you can turn towards the feelings and ask what does this feeling have to teach me? This approach is also a core teaching of many mindfulness practices.
When you relate to negative thoughts and challenging emotions from Self, you can learn let go of the past, create new and empowering narratives and identify the needs and desires that lay beneath the feeling. Over time, by coming back to Self again and again, you discover how to shift out of painful states of being and move into greater states of ease.
At times, you may explore movement, writing or drawing to assist you in digesting your experiences. At other times, I will teach you an energy wellness practice or a somatic practice that can help to address what you are feeling. For example, slow breathing is a great tool for calming anxiety.
When we are clearing out emotional wounding and trauma, we work slowly and gently. Movement and touch are powerful allies in this process, helping you to shed the residues of pain, and allowing you to discover new ways of being in the world.
At the end of each session, there is time for reflection and integration. We may do this through talking, journaling or art.
Sessions can be done in a few formats: seated, on a massage table, in a movement space. Seated sessions take place seated across from each other, as you would at most talk therapy session. With table work, you lay on a massage table (with clothes on) as I offer you supportive touch. For movement work, I will sit on the perimeter of the room, and allow you to use the space of the room for movement exploration. Some sessions may use a couple or all of these formats depending on your needs.
I also offer remote sessions done by phone or video.
